Fridays Acomplishments

What we did this week
So this week was our last week to work on the robots in class. We finished the manual racquetball challenge on Thursday and now we have made slight progress with our autonomous challenge. We have decided to stay after school a couple of days to finish autonomous and start  our tractor challenge.

Monday goals of the week

What we hope to accomplish this week

So we scraped the claw idea and have finished building the conventional holder with wheel.

Now, we hope to finish manual and autonomous this week because this is the last official week with robots. We also want to be able to at least get some extra credit with the tractor robot.

Friday the 13th

This week we ran into issues with our claw and now we have to switch it. This will make it easier to pick up the ball since now there will be a motor to power the gear which will pick up the ball. However, we will have to spend time to change it out, delaying when we can complete the challenge.

Monday May 9th

What we plan to accomplish this week
This week, like last week, all three of us have one AP exam to take so we won't have full attendance some days. We attached the claw to the robot and now we have to program the drive because it reverted back to only controlling one wheel. Once we program the robot, we will have to counteract the weight of our claw and then be ready to do the racquetball challenge.

May 6

This week we completed making compound gears for our robot. It was successful. However, our arm is still heavy so we need to come up with a way to counter the weight to prevent it from falling over. We also added an axle to prevent the ball from falling out as we lift the arm to drop the ball in the tube.

Monday, May 2nd, 2016 Goals

Goals for Monday, May 2nd, 2016!

Everyone took the black rubber gears for the Racquet Ball challege so we had to come up with our own way to pick up the ball. Everyone uses the gear to hold up the ball but we are trying to scoop up the ball and drop it into the tube backward. Our arm is kinda heavy so we had to switch our gear mechanism to compound gears. This allows it to pick up more weight since it uses more gears that work with each other simultaneously.

Friday 4/29/16

What we've accomplished
This week, again being a short week because of testing, we started building the racquetball holder. There were no more black wheels left (most people used black rubber wheels to spin the ball into a holder), so we decided to try a unconventional method.  We made a contraption that would enclose the ball on three sides, resembling a claw.

Monday 4/25

This week we hope to use compound gears to allow our arm to carry the weight from the claw to pick up the ball successfully. This is Juan Cabrera's compound gear that we hope to replicate.

What we've accomplished 4/22/16

Friday , April 22nd
This week was a short week because of super testing days, so not much was accomplished. Mister Martin was out on Monday so we spent that time working on solid works but then we realized that there is no grade recovery for that so we scraped it. Last Friday we began autonomous and this Thursday we tweaked it to a point where it is on the right track. Today, we are going to hopefully finish autonomous tetrahedron challenge or at least be close to finishing.

Monday, April 18th Goals

Tetrahedron Challenge Autonomous

We are quite behind with our autonomous but we are very close to getting it. The goal is to get the bot to place the tetrahedron onto the stand all on its own. We still need to adjust how much the claw goes up and when to make it release the tetrahedron. Once that is done, we can move onto the racquet ball challenge.

April 15

We successfully completed our challenge to pick up the three tetrahedrons and put them on the spoke! It took many tries but on our last try we did it! We also began working on autonomously completing the same task but with only one tetrahedron.

Monday April 11th 2016 4/11/16

Monday goals
This week ,we hope to finish the tetrahedron challenge and begin to work on the autonomous tetrahedron challenge. We also need to make small adjustments to the "claw" so it can pick up and drop off the tetrahedron optimally. while trying the tetrahedron challenge As for Solidworks, we are still trying to figure out how to do the base and incorporate the claw.

Friday, April 8th Arm Progess

Building the Arm:

By the end of the week, we managed to get the arm up and get the motor to work with the arm. We did face some problems with the arm but we ended up fixing it by changing the programming. The single long screw that prevents the tetrahedron from falling proved to be ineffective so we plan on changing it next week.

Week of April 4

This week we hope to build the arm for our task. We are going to have one minute to make our robot pick up three tetrahedrons and place them on a spoke. The parts below are what we need to make the arm.

Fridayt 4/1/16 What We Accomplished so far

Friday 4/1/2016

What we accomplished this week: We did a lot, some good and some bad. We continued our SolidWorks assemble but unfortunately it did not go very well and we made little progress.  Luckily, we were able to finish our autonomous test in time (by Thursday), even with our wheel falling off a couple of times while practicing.

Robot Progess

Monday- March 28th, 2016: Autonomous and SolidWorks

Goals of this Week:

This week we had to get autonomous done by Thursday so that was the main task we worked on. We also needed to complete our SolidWorks assembly for our robot. We are having trouble making it on SolidWorks because the mates are a bit confusing so we need to keep on trying until we build our robot completely.

Goals for this week 3/14

This week we hope to finish building our robot as well as design it on Solidworks. In order to design our robot on Solidworks, we first have to find the parts online to put them together. The picture below is what we hope our robot will turn out to look like.

Friday 3/11/16

This week, we got a lot of work done. None of us had ever worked with robots before so I think we made a lot of progress considering our lack of experience. The first step was learning how to attach everything and learning how to connect the brain to the remote controller. We made the chassis base and separately constructed the wheels (as you can see, we already attached on wheel).

Goals of the Week - March 7th, 2016

Goals:
  • Take apart robots
  • Start building
  • Learn how to make a claw bot (Minus the claw)
  • Make sure kit has appropriate part
  • Be sure tool box has all the tools we need

This Week's Accomplishments 3/4

This week we finalized our blog as well as organized our station. We are sharing a cart with Team Nuts and Bolts. We assisted in organizing the green bins and prepared for the upcoming week.
